I have to admit I like the term SEO strategist. It’s the title that I’ve given myself for the last few years and there is good reason for that. Here is a simple arguement, to why you should consider hiring a professional.
You see everybody’s website is unique and as much as we can watch SEO Training techniques on YouTube or we can read how to rank a website within various blog posts. Your website is unique and chances are, will need a unique strategy in order for it to perform well, hence where SEO strategists come in.
We all should know that creating great content is important. We all should know that getting good backlinks is important and hopefully you should know that your website needs to be healthy and fast loading, hence a good audit. But knowing what backlinks or how many is something that a strategist would figure out for you.
Knowing what content and how much is something that a strategist would figure out for you. And of course, a fundamental understanding of how to perform a detailed audit for speed and performs etc, is something a strategist should excel at.
Taking The Argument To Another Level
Let’s go back to backlinks again. It may seem easy to measure a backlink in terms of its domain authority. But experts know that domain authority is measured normally by Moz and is a third-party metric. And although it’s good as a guide, it’s not a definite measurement of how good a link can be for you.
It takes experience of measuring and understanding and researching backlinks to really understand what really is a good backlink that’s going to help your website. And not one that has a false or propped up domain authority score. A search engine optimization strategist will know the difference, will have studied this in the past and hopefully can get you the right links easier and quicker and cheaper.
We all should know that relevance is important, to help Google understand the topic that is on your website. But what is relevance? For example, is a mortgage article relevant to a property website? Is the Taj Mahal restaurant in your town, relevant to the real Taj Mahal in India? When we search for a fender, is that an electric guitar? Is it the front of a fireplace? Or is it a bumper on a car?
A content strategist will understand these differences or similarities and will know the type of content to put on your website so that you do not waste time or money. Believe it or not, adding too much content can water down your topic authority and can affect the SERPs of your website.
What content should you write because you are an expert on that subject and what can you outsource to general content writers? Should you add content to your website every day? Or can you get away with just adding content once a month? These are all strategies that have to be considered for ranking success.
There are so many things that make your website different to others around you. For example, the age of the website, your URL, where it is hosted, how many pages you have, and what is the subject matter of your website. A newer website may have a different strategy to one that’s more established. A website that has lots of content, lots of new fresh content and great evergreen content may have a different strategy to where to go to the next level than a brand-new website that has very little.
Putting A Plan Together
A good SEO strategist will understand all the questions above and will sit down and put a plan together or a qualified strategy that will help take your website to the next level. It may not resemble other strategies you’ve seen from other websites, but that’s the whole point. It’s about doing the right thing for you.
